Police Escort Group

South Australia Police in partnership with the Department of Transport Energy and Infrastructure (DTEI) and allied stakeholders provides an over dimensional escorting service for all industry and commercial businesses travelling within the state of South Australia.

How do I book a police escort?

1. In the first instance ensure DTEI will issue you a permit for the load type and route you wish to travel.
2. Your Business must be pre-registered with SAPOL before a booking will be accepted.
3. Apply using the 'Application to request a Police Escort' via fax or submit by email.

Who pays for the police escort?

All costs incurred during the conduct of an over dimensional Police escort are payable by the transport companies utilising this service. See our information sheet (pdf size 22.1kb) or (excel size 36.5kb) for police escort rates in 2011-2012.

Before escort services are provided a deposit will be required from clients who are not credit approved.
