Overview and FAQ's

The Overview document is intended to assist Hydroponics Industry dealers and employees in the understanding of obligations under the Hydroponics Industry Control Act, 2009 and Regulations. It is a summary of the main provisions of the Act and Regulations only and all prospective licensees should take steps to familiarise themselves with the legislation. The Overview document, including information on the Regulations, is available to view or print.

To further assist with a general understanding of the legislation, a Frequently Asked Questions document is also available for viewing and printing.

The Hydroponics Industry Control Act, 2009 commenced on 1 March 2010.

It is important to note provisions applicable to PERSONS WHO MUST BE REFUSED a licence who cannot carry on the business of selling prescribed equipment by retail as of 1 March 2010.

The parliamentary second reading speech and associated clause notes (explanation of the Act presented to parliament) are also available to download.

Any further enquiries can be made via the Licensing Enforcement Branch, who can be contacted at: sapol.hydroponics@police.sa.gov.au or by telephone (08) 732 23342.
