Selection process

If your application is successful you will need to go through the selection process before being considered as a community constable. This will include the following.

Panel interview

If you meet all the pre-entry requirements you may be invited to attend an interview with members of South Australia Police.

The interview gives you the opportunity to show that you have the qualities to succeed as a community constable.

South Australia Police uses the 'behavioural interviewing' method. The interview covers areas such as leadership, decisiveness, problem solving, stress management and integrity.

The interview will take place in your local community.

 Medical examination

This will be conducted by the Police Medical Officer. You must meet the necessary standard to undertake the duties of a community constable.

Psychology test

You will have to undertake a psychological assessment which will be conducted by the police psychologist.

Final selection

If you complete the interview and reach a satisfactory standard in all tests and assessments you may be considered for selection as a community constable.

But completion of the interview and all tests and assessments does not guarantee selection.

Final selection will take into account all aspects of the selection process, including your character, background and fingerprint checks.
